Description

TechCamp Australia is a two-day, interactive workshop hosted by the Centre for Media Transition at the University of Technology, Sydney in partnership with the U.S. Embassy and Consulate. The event will bring news media experts together with participants from Australia, New Zealand, Kiribati, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Fiji, Niue, Tonga, Cook islands, and Solomon Islands who deeply understand the challenges faced in the area of digital journalism. Together, they will co-create solutions and strategies to combat mis- and disinformation online. Through a variety of hands-on demonstrations and trainings, TechCamp trainers will work closely with participants to brainstorm low-cost, and easy-to-implement technologies and strategies that can be applied to local challenges.

15:30 - 16:30 Challenge Statement Development and Form Project Groups Participants will go back to their brainstorming groups and narrow down top challenges to develop an actionable/tangible challenge statement. Brainstorming groups may break off into smaller teams as they identify which specific root cause they want to work on solving
