Shelly Bell is a Social Entrepreneur and Digital Coach – named Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 by Technically DC and one of the Top 40 New Power Women in Tech by DCA Live (2017).  She is among the nation’s most sought community organizers, motivational speakers and hosts in the Washington, DC Metro area.  With a background in performance poetry, K-12 education and Computer Science, she vibrates her passion for community building by helping people amplify their power to live the best life possible on their own terms!  Shelly is the founder of Black Girl Ventures (BGV), a social enterprise dedicated to finding creative place-based solutions to dissolve the race and gender gap in access to capital.  BGV’s mission is to develop/operate a framework for increasing the number of revenue generating businesses led by women of color entrepreneurs.  “Boss Up” is BGV’s signature event, mixing crowdfunding and pitch competitions to increase community engagement in entrepreneurship while creating access to capital for women.  The community donates, the donations create the “vision fund,” black and brown women pitch their ideas, the community votes and one woman walks away with seed funding for her business.  Black Girl Ventures also hosts networking events, social gatherings, and story-telling events.  Shelly Bell is unquestionably an extraordinarily gifted speaker with an unflinching desire to remain honest with herself and others which attaches an undeniable movement of social impact to any initiative she focuses on.  Her motto is “Regret Nothing Write Everything!”
